Time To Be Heroes: A Totally Unofficial Oral History of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, is almost finished. After three years, I am putting the finishing touches on it, and holding out hope for one or two final interviews that I can edit quietly into the cracks, and then it will be finished and available to Kickstarter backers in March.

A finalized, book-market version of the book (as well as the audiobook) will be available on November 17 — that’s the anniversary of Superman’s death (and the theatrical release of Justice League), which is an arbitrary date to pick, but I wanted time to record the audiobook and still get it in “stores” for the holidays.
More details on both the retail sale and audiobook will be on the way soon.
Why the long wait? A few reasons. First, I learned with Best Movie Ever that I want to give my editors more time with the book than I did then. Since I’m still tinkering with Time To Be Heroes, that means early editions will have errors and omissions that the “final” book won’t. Backers will get to see that version of the book, because they’ve waited long enough. As I detailed in a recent post on Kickstarter, the process of getting Time To Be Heroes across the finish line has been a difficult one, and they’ve been with me the whole time.
Anybody who preorders a copy of the book from JosieBook.com will get an ebook copy as soon as it’s done, and a print copy when it’s available. Yes, that means you too can bask in the glory of a version that hasn’t had its final edits. Paper copies will go out once the edits are completed. I’m mulling a special round of print copies for backers, so anybody who wants to just get their book and be done with it can do so, but that won’t apply to other preorders.
If the book is complete, edited, and ready for primetime before the target release date, I’ll do a special run then and preorders will go out early.
Preorders will only be available on the ECV Analog storefront at first. Eventually when there is a finalized manuscript that I can get sent off, I’ll be able to get preorders listed on Barnes & Noble, Amazon, etc. Updates will be available here and on my social media accounts.
