Ok, got a little delayed on this one. I’ve got 12 Christmas-ish movies for you to enjoy this year. Russ and I will be releasing them once a day like a 50% off Aldi’s advent calendar.

We’re starting with the most obvious one. Arguably the best action film of the 80’s – DIE HARD.

Directed by John McTiernan and starring Bruce Willis in the role that ended up defining and changing his career from the TV actor known for Moonlighting to the blockbuster movie star of the Die Hard franchise, Armageddon, The Sixth Sense and so many more. From there Willis produced one of ECV’s favorite films, Hudson Hawk.

Die Hard wasn’t a Christmas favorite from it’s release like Elf but in the last couple years the film spawned 1000’s of online arguments whether it was or wasn’t a Christmas film. Slowly the inevitable consensus was, YES, Die Hard is a Christmas film.

Was the film that was released in July 22nd 1988 meant to be a Christmas film? No. But was the heart of the movie an inevitable yule time classic? YES.

The entire film is built around Christmas, John McLane heads to Los Angeles for Christmas, he goes to the building for a XMas party. We all know it, just admit and enjoy it.

Die Hard is currently streaming on HULU and ROKU.

Buy the disc on Amazon (whole series) or Blu-Ray.com. Weirdly I can’t find it available new anywhere else. If you can, shoot me the links.
